FAQs

  • Counselling is a collaborative process where we explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours to address what you're going through and create meaningful change. It's about healing emotional wounds and patterns, building new coping strategies, and deepening your understanding of yourself and your life. As we work together, we create a safe space for this process, knowing that healing often happens in relationship. While challenging emotions and discomfort may come up during this journey, they’re inherently a part of the counselling process. We’ll move at a pace that feels right for you, and if another approach is needed, we’ll explore options together.

  • Counselling can be helpful if you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from yourself or others. If you’re ready to explore your inner world and process past experiences or current challenges, working with a counsellor can provide support, clarity, and a safe space for healing. It’s really about stepping into the unknown together—allowing space for discovery and growth, even when you're not sure exactly where it will lead. You don’t need to have all the answers to start—sometimes just the willingness to explore is all it takes. If you're unsure whether counselling is the right step for you, I offer a free 20-minute consultation where we can discuss your needs and determine if we’re a good fit.

  • Somatic therapy is a body-centered approach to healing that recognizes the connection between the mind and body. It focuses on physical sensations, movements, and the nervous system to help process emotional and psychological experiences. By bringing awareness to the body, somatic therapy can help release stored trauma, regulate the nervous system, and restore a sense of safety and balance. In sessions, we may explore how emotions are experienced in your body and use mindful techniques to support healing and self-regulation.

  • Emotional processing involves experiencing and expressing emotions in a healthy, constructive way. It is about allowing yourself to feel what’s beneath the surface—whether it’s sadness, anger, grief, or fear—and working through these emotions to release them rather than suppress them. Emotional processing in therapy helps to untangle stuck emotions, shift patterns, and integrate emotional experiences into a more balanced state of being.

  • Each session is a collaborative space where you are invited to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences in a supportive, non-judgmental environment. My approach is somatic and emotion-focused, meaning we may work with sensations in the body, nervous system patterns, and deep emotional processing to support healing and self-connection.

  • It’s completely normal to feel unsure or uncomfortable about opening up about certain topics. You never have to talk about something you don’t want to. We’ll always move at a pace that feels right for you. If something feels too difficult to talk about, we can focus on other areas of your healing journey, and when you’re ready, we can revisit it later. Our work is about what feels safe and supportive for you.

  • Support between sessions may include brief check-ins via email though I generally do not offer support between sessions. If you have any urgent concerns, please reach out for crisis support.
